Plethora, founded by Nick Pinkston, is a startup that automates a lot of the design and quoting process that one needs to go through to make a physical product. This is great, but the work they are doing to both make this a reality and control for the externalities is more interesting and exciting. The company has built a whole training program that allows new hires to get up to speed and acquire sough-after skills in a matter of weeks, not years. We should be encouraging more technologists to be socially and economically aware, not just unabashed proponents without any considering for the side effect.
