• Amazon will now ship individual low-priced items, removing its “add-on” program. Up until now, Amazon had a $25 order minimum and sold most everyday items in bulk. This new initiative, combined with Prime-eligible shipping shortening to one day, will make it increasingly difficult for traditional retailers to compete.
  • Amazon published an “Our Positions” section on its website. The new informational page presents its stance on 11 social issues including minimum wage and immigration reform. The page was published as a rebuttal to the criticism the company has faced surrounding social and political issues.
  • Walmart started a price war with Amazon by lowering its listing fee for third-party vendors. Walmart confirmed that it’s subsidizing the fee and vendors will still receive the same payout. The initiative is a response to a program Amazon launched this summer that offered reduced fees, but also a minimum payout.
