• Amazon launched the Dash Smart Shelf for business customers. The shelf features a built-in scale to determine when a product is out of stock. The shelf is available in three sizes, which allow users to measure a range of products—including Bic pens and Folgers coffee.
  • Amazon will open cashierless Amazon Go supermarkets and pop up stores starting in 2020. The company is currently testing a Go supermarket in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. Amazon also plans to license out the technology in the coming year.
  • Amazon ended its controversial program that lets advertisers include samples in customer’s orders. The program required advertisers to spend $25,000-$50,000 in samples to participate. The initiative raised privacy concerns as Amazon shared customer data with advertisers in the program.
