The goal of the protest was to call attention to the deaths and injuries of Amazon’s warehouse workers reported last week, which were the result of impossible quotas the company inflicted upon its workers. The protest also contested the environmental costs of next-day delivery.
  • The “Amazon effect” is flooding landfills flooded with cardboard. Since China refused to accept America’s trash in 2017, the recycling industry has been struggling to handle the growing amount of cardboard coming from online shopping. The excess cardboard has led to a 50 percent decline in the price of recovered cardboard.
