• Walmart will launch a self-service advertising platform to compete with Amazon for big advertisers. As Walmart moves its ad business in house, its new platform will allow advertisers to buy search ads through third-party ad tech companies. Walmart says that its data from 160 million American shoppers online and offline sets it apart from its competitors.
  • Amazon threatened to fire members of the Amazon Employees for Climate Justice group. The ecommerce giant said if employees continued to speak out about its internal affairs, especially on social media, which is against company policy, they risked termination.
  • Ikea will no longer sell its products on Amazon. The furniture giant partnered with Amazon to test its Smart Light products, which launched in 2018. Ikea decided to not continue with Amazon after the trial was over.
