On Glossier’s beginnings:

You could argue that she was gathering data for four years,’ says consumer retail expert Richie Siegel. Putting customers voices at the centre of the business was a smart move, Siegel says: not only was Weiss getting valuable insight into what her market wanted, it made the bond with her customers stronger.

On the company’s growth:

I like to believe that theyre just growing faster than they ever could have guessed,’ says Siegel. If youve got venture investors, theyre expecting this to be a company worth hundreds of millions, if not a billion dollars. I would much rather bet that its growing pains because they just wouldnt be able to grow if that continues to be the strategy.
