Loose Threads would not exist without early and selfless support from knowledgeable industry leaders. Our mentors saved us lots of time and money by offering their wisdom. While we have started giving back in unstructured ways, we’re taking the first step to formalize how we will pay it forward.

Today, we’re excited to launch Loose Threads Office Hours, which gives emerging entrepreneurs access to the Loose Threads team for quick but impactful advice.

But we don’t want to only give advice—we also want to help entrepreneurs successfully seek out advice. Too often requests are nonspecific—“Can we get coffee?” or, in the worst possible case, “Can I pick your brain?” (no, you may not). This genericism limits a mentor’s effectiveness and interest. On the other hand, very specific asks are easy to evaluate and respond to; the sooner someone cuts to the chase, the sooner he or she will get something out of it.

Over time, we envision expanding the program both in terms of the number of people who have access to Office Hours and the duration of the mentorship.

How it works

  • Fill out a short application that shares more about you, what you’re trying to build, what you would like our help with and why you would like our help.
  • We accept applications that fit the following criteria:
    • You have more than just an idea, meaning you are in the process of realizing it.
    • You have raised less than $1 million in fundraising or revenue. (If your numbers are higher, check out Advisors, Membership or FaceLift).
    • You have specifically outlined what you need help with, which allows us to determine if we can provide assistance.
    • You have determined that all of the free analysis in the Loose Threads Archives (see here and here) has not answered your question.
  • We will review the applications and offer 20-minute calls to three people a month. The time we allocate will grow depending on the success of the program.
  • If you’re selected, you’ll send us a short agenda that outlines what you would like to discuss on the call and then we will schedule it.
  • If not selected, you can re-apply once every six months.

We’re looking forward to your submissions and the opportunity to work with budding entrepreneurs.
